Junior Worlds: here are the participating teams (2/2)

The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2022 are around the corner! They will take place on Friday and Saturday in the famous alpine city of Innsbruck, Austria. A total of 23 teams representing 18 countries will participate. Get to know them better!

Team Italy
Like the British team Icicles and one U.S. team, the Italian Hot Shivers will also skate a free program to "Moulin Rouge" this weekend. For the short, Andrea Gilardi's team of 20 athletes is preparing a performance to the song "Vouge" by Madonna and "I Like The Way You Move" by Bodyrockers. The best result of the Junior Hot Shivers at the Junior Worlds is 11th place, won for the last time in 2019. The Sesto San Giovanni team will make its big return to the international stage this weekend after a two-year pandemic. For the past two seasons, the team has competed at the national level and has swept everything (six gold medals!).

Team Netherlands
Coached by Angelique Visser, the Illuminettes team will take part in their third World Junior Championships. This season, the team from Eindhoven took part in the Neuchâtel Trophy (9th) and the Hevelius Cup where they finished 6th. On the ice, Illuminettes will skate this weekend a short program to "Good Omens" by David Arnold and a free program to the song "A Hidden Life" by James Newton Howard.

Team Poland 1
This year, Poland will have two representatives at the World Junior Championships thanks to its good results. Team Ice Fire from Gdansk will be the first team. Founded in 2013 and with 20 skaters this season, Agnieszka Filipowicz's team will skate to a Lady Gaga song ("Is That Alright?") for the short program and "New World Coming" by DiSA in the free skate. With 7 hours of training per week, the team is determined to continue to show their improvements and keep their place in the top 10 won two years ago.

Team Poland 2
And here is the second Polish team! Team Le Soleil will participate in its first-ever World Junior Championships. Created in 2020 during the pandemic, this young team of 16 skaters comes from Torun, a city located in the center of the country. Le Soleil trains 10 hours a week and is coached by Karolina Dabrowska-Pawlonka and Piotr Snopek. For the short program, the team will skate to the music of the famous composer Hans Zimmer.

Team Spain
The sun of Madrid will shine on the Innsbruck ice rink thanks to Team Mirum, which arrived from Spain. The skaters have been coached for several seasons by Elvira Matveeva, who has brought a new dimension to the team. For the short program, the Spanish team will present a program inspired by the movie "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," and for the free program, the team will skate to the song "Sun and Ice" by Frostudio Chambersonic (from the theme of the Snow Queen).

Team Switzerland
Three years after 2019 (where the team finished 10th), the Cool Dreams will represent Switzerland again. The team trains in Burgdorf near Bern with two young coaches Nadine Banholzer and Tanja Schneider, and announces Gert Hofmann as choreographer. The Cool Dreams team will skate a short program to the song "Hustle" by Pink and a long program to "Oblivion" by M83. The team participated in three international events this season, finishing between 3rd and 5th place.

Team Sweden 1
The 2022 junior national champions from Sweden will compete for the third time at the Worlds. Away from the international scene since March 2020, Tjörn's Team Seaside is coached by Therese Hillberg and Jenny Sandberg. This season, the team skates to "Flashlight" by Jessie J and Sia with yellow dresses in the short program. The Swedish team will present a darker program in dark blue costumes on Saturday.

Team Sweden 2
Team Spirit will also be a serious competitor. The junior season in Sweden was indeed very close between the two teams. Team Spirit trains in Mölndal near Gothenburg with three coaches: Malin Heidenfors, Cathrine Wiberg and Karin Ahlgren. The team skates this year "Tango Amore" for their short program and "Rain dance" for the free skate. Team Spirit's best result at Worlds was in 2020 when they finished 7th.

Team Turkey
Representing Turkey and the city of Ankara, Team Golden Roses will live this year its 4th World Junior Championships. The last time we saw the team at the Worlds was in 2019, when the team finished 23rd. This season, the team is coached by Özge Özkaya and has 20 skaters.

Team USA
Having been unable to travel to Nottingham in 2020 due to Covid, the Skyliners Junior are ready to get their revenge! The team of Josh Babb and Pamela May will skate to "Hallelujah" in the short program and to "Gemini" for the free program. Third at U.S. Nationals two weeks ago, the team has won the Mozart Cup, the Boston Classic and the Fall Classic this season. The team's best finish at Worlds was in 2018 when the team was crowned vice world champion.

Team USA
The 2022 national vice-champions, the Teams Elite is a talented team that had already been noticed at several international events before the pandemic. They compete for the first time at the World Junior Championships with "Ouija Board" for the short program and Missy Elliott for the long program. The team coached by Danielle Ostrower, Lauren Roman, Josh Fischel and Jamie Whyte won gold in early February at the French Cup.
