The French teams, at the Junior and Senior ISU level, are holding their breath. They should indeed present their new programs physically for the first time of the season on Friday and Saturday during the 2020 Masters organized in Villard-de-Lans, in the south-east of France.

Four French teams are ready to resume competitions.

From Thursday, the 2020 Masters will take place in Villard-de-Lans. The event will welcome the Zoulous in the Senior category and three teams in the Junior division (Les Chrysalides de Valenciennes, Zazous from Lyon, and Team Jeanne d'Arc of the Rouen Olympic Club). The competition will allow teams to present their new programs and benefit from monitoring.

With the pandemic, however, the competition should be organized in strict compliance with health measures. "It's a little stressful situation, but we live from day to day and we adapt at every moment," said Alicia Trompette, skater in the Senior team Zoulous.

The director of the French teams at the national federation, Catherine Glaise, explained to the skaters that the locker rooms will be disinfected after each team (time is allocated to this task in the schedule) and that the masks will have to be worn by the athletes almost everything time.

According to preliminary information, the changing rooms will only be used to put on the skates. The athletes will then have to arrive in the rink already dressed for the competition. "But it is also still a little unclear because certain measures apply to a skater and a coach, but not to 20 skaters and several coaches at the same time. For example, I see badly our coaches holding our 20 masks during our performance", emphasizes Alicia Trompette.

Also, bringing together ice dance and figure skating skaters, the competition and health rules will have to be adapted to synchronized skating teams.

In any case, the teams will be able to present their programs for the first time. For example, Team Jeanne d'Arc has just returned from a three-week internship with Catherine Papadakis and will be keen to show the progress made.

Several theme announcements have already been announced. If Les Zoulous have started to unveil some clues on Instagram, Les Chrysalides will present a free program to "Artificial Intelligence" and the team Zazous will skate their short program to the piece of music "Music was my first Love".

Friday, the junior and senior short programs will start at 12:15 pm (French time).

Same schedule on Saturday for the free programs.
