Senior Worlds: here are the participating teams (1/2)

Twenty-three teams will compete on Friday and Saturday at the 2022 Worlds in Hamilton, Canada.

The most awaited competition of the season will be held this weekend in Hamilton, Canada! The best senior teams worldwide will compete for a medal at the 2022 World Championships. Learn more about the participating teams (Part 1).

Team Australia
The first team to present to you is Team Unity. Representing Australia, this team from Sydney was created in 2017 and has already participated twice in the World Championships. Coached by Madonna Randall and Georgina Williams, Team Unity will skate a short program to Tommee Profitt and Brook's "Can't Help Falling in Love" and several Mary Queen Of Scots tracks for the free skate.

Team Belgium
After finishing 10th at the Neuchâtel Trophy in February, Team Phoenix is making its return to the international stage. This Belgian team competed at the 2018 and 2019 Worlds, still holding the 17th position. Will they finish higher in the rankings this year?

Team Canada
Crowned 2022 Canadian Champions, Les Suprêmes from Saint-Léonard in Quebec will definitely be one of the teams to watch this weekend in Hamilton. Composed of 22 skaters, the team led by Marilyn Langlois, Pascal Denis and Amélie Brochu has strong programs this season: a short program in tribute to Aretha Franklin, and a more lyrical long program called "White Crow" telling the story of ballet dancer Rudolf Noureyev.

Team Canada
The other Canadian team to qualify is the local team Nexxice from Burlington. Coached by Shelley Barnett Simonton, Anne Schelter and Jennifer Beauchamp Crichton, the 2022 Canadian vice-champions skate to Shania Twain's "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" for the short and Jeremy Dutcher's "Mehcinut" for the free, following a very specific creative concept. With approximately 20 hours of training per week, the Ontario team is aiming for the top spot this year.

Team Croatia
Zagreb Snowflakes will skate for Croatia at the Worlds. With 23 skaters this season, the team of Ozana Miljkovic and Natasa Bahat has chosen some great classics. They will perform a short program on Friday to Celine Dion's "To Love You More" and Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard" for the free program on Saturday. Their last major international competition was two years ago at the Spring Cup in Italy.

Team Czech Republic
They made an excellent impression this season, finishing in 2nd place at the Mozart Cup in January... Team Olympia from Prague is therefore expected at these Worlds. The team of Jitka Mokra and Katerina Urbanova will skate two colourful programs, including a free program to Queen titles. The team has competed at every World Championship since 2007, and 13th place is their best result so far.

Team Finland
The famous Finnish team Helsinki Rockettes will be among the favourites for these 2022 Worlds. Kaisa Arrateig's team has won almost everything this season: the French Cup, the Marie Lundmark Trophy Challenger Series and even the national championships. The team will be skating its very feminine short program "Femme Fatale" in red dresses, and its very different and tech-oriented free program: "Digital Twin" in blue dresses. The Helsinki Rockettes have already won 3 times the gold medal at the Worlds; the last time was in 2011.

Team Finland
Vice World Champions in 2019, Marigold IceUnity will be the other Finnish team competing at these World Championships. Coached by Anu Oksanen, the Helsinki team will present their short program "Nordic Spirit" taking fans through Lapland's scenic nature and "From Darkness To Light" their free program. Marigold IceUnity finished 2nd at the national championships in Finland and at the Neuchâtel Trophy in February.

Les Zoulous, France. (Ville Vairinen - 2022)

Team France
Les Zoulous will once again represent France at the Worlds. The team of Alessandro Tormena and Amélie Gendre trains about 8 hours a week in Lyon and will aim for the top 10 with their short program "Feel The Sound of Africa" and their free skate "Can You Hear Me" telling the story of a deaf woman. The team's best score at the World Championships was 11th place, won in 2016 and 2017.

Team Great Britain
Training in Nottingham, Team Icicles Senior will be the team representing the UK. This will be their 2nd appearance at the Worlds, following Helsinki in 2019. The team is coached by Lauren Kelly and Esther Morris and will be making its comeback to the international stage after two years of pandemic. They will skate two rhythmic programs to songs like "YMCA" by the Village People and "Le Freak" by Chic that will get the audience dancing.

Team Germany
Winners of the 2022 Mozart Cup, Team Berlin 1 will compete in Hamilton under the colours of their country, Germany. The Berlin team is used to the World Championships and shows good form after the pandemic with, among other things, a short program from the cabaret "The Wyld" with the music "Ich bin ein Berliner" already presented last season. The team will skate "The Power of Water" for the free skate.
