Who can shine at the 2026 Junior World Championships?

As the Junior Worlds approach, the four Challenger Series events contested between January and early February provide a useful read. Of course, they don’t tell the whole season’s story, but they do sketch out clear trends. Finland and the United States are posting scores that can target gold, and Canada is regularly settling onto the podium. What remains is to place this recent “snapshot” into a longer-term perspective thanks to the ISU World Standings.

Just a few days left before the buzz of the Junior World Championships. What if we analyzed what could happen at the top of the podium?

The four competitions of the 2025-2026 Challenger Series (Nottingham, Eindhoven, Boston, Turku) have served as a barometer in recent weeks.

Rather than reading the results event by event, the combined podiums and cumulative placings reveal a hierarchy: a very deep Finland, the United States capable of winning across multiple stops, and a Canada not to be underestimated.

What the 25/26 Challenger Series results tell us

No doubt, Finland sits at the top and fields several teams close together near the top of the standings. Helsinki Fintastic won in Eindhoven (202.77) and in Turku (217.02), confirming its status as a “favorite.” In Turku, Finland also placed Valley Bay Synchro (4th, 200.56). These two teams will be the two Finnish representatives at the Junior Worlds.

In Turku, Musketeers (3rd, 201.90), Team Mystique (5th, 195.98) and Dream Edges Junior (6th, 186.12) also finished very well, proving the fierce competition that exists in Finland.

Canada will rely on the Quebec team Les SuprĂŞmes Junior, 3rd in Eindhoven (188.64) then 2nd in Turku (205.94), and on NEXXICE Junior which competed in Boston (4th, 180.32). The Nova Junior team (6th in Boston, 174.79; 8th in Turku, 175.56) will not take part in the Worlds this year.
Les Suprêmes Junior, 2024 junior world champions in Neuchâtel, finished 4th in 2025. • Nuppu Humalisto - 2026
The four stages mainly show that the battle for the very top spots is largely being fought between Finland, Canada and also... the United States

American teams stand out for clear leadership on certain stages: Teams Elite Junior win Nottingham (207.20) and Boston (214.25), while Skyliners finish 3rd in Nottingham (189.88) and 2nd in Boston (196.73). These two teams will compete at the World Championships. Team Image nevertheless remain near the top of the table with very strong scores (4th in Eindhoven, 183.08; 5th in Boston, 178.65).
Behind them, several European nations remain ones to watch: Team Seaside (Sweden) placed 5th in Eindhoven (171.95) and 9th in Turku (158.61); Ice Fire Junior (Poland) finished 8th in Eindhoven (156.99) and 8th in Boston (154.04). Icicles Junior (United Kingdom) was 5th in Nottingham (166.50) and 7th in Eindhoven (158.83).

The results from the four Challenger Series competitions this season highlight three teams in particular to watch in the race for gold:
  • Helsinki Fintastic (FIN): two wins (Eindhoven, Turku) and a peak score of 217.02 in Turku.
  • Teams Elite Junior (USA): a double winner (Nottingham, Boston), with 214.25 in Boston. This suggests winning potential if the performances are clean.
  • Les SuprĂŞmes Junior (CAN): repeated podium finishes and clear progress in Turku (205.94), a consistency profile that matters in a championship.

ISU World Standings

To complete the reading, the ISU publishes the Junior synchro World Standings.

As with the seniors, this ranking awards points over a period defined by the ISU. It aims to reflect performance and consistency across multiple competitions, beyond the Challenger Series events alone.

Specifically, Challenger Series results indicate who is “peaking” during the season. The World Standings, meanwhile, help place those performances in a longer-term context: regular presence at the top level, the ability to rack up points across several events, and stability over multiple seasons.
