Second after the short program, Marigold IceUnity finished on top at the third and penultimate stop of the Challenger Series. On the ice in Norwood, MA, the Finnish team delivered an excellent free skating program, “Under My Spell,” on Saturday night. Strong program component scores, along with flawless execution of all their elements, allowed the team to rack up plenty of GOEs.

Leading after the short program, the Haydenettes (USA) took the silver medal. Their creative element at the end of the program (CrL) was not counted on the score sheet, costing them at least four points.

Despite a fall in the free skating program (NHE), Team Nova (CAN) still held onto a spot on the podium. Finishing ahead of their compatriots NEXXICE, the Quebec team heads home with the bronze medal and a very strong total score.

Several very strong teams were in action in Boston this weekend: aside from NEXXICE, who also had to contend with a fall in the free skating program, the American teams thrilled the crowd. The performances of Poland’s Ice Fire Senior and Japan’s Jingu Ice Messengers also deserve praise.
