Macquarie Ice Rink hosted the first competition of the Australian synchro calendar, Sydney Synch Festival, on Saturday August 30th and Sunday September 1st, welcoming many new and returning teams across 9 different divisions.
The Australian Figure Skating Championships were held last weekend on December 1st and 2nd at Macquarie Ice Rink in Sydney. 43 teams competed across 7 divisions, making this the largest nationals ever in Australia.
As the qualifier event for the Australian Figure Skating Championships, the NSW State Championships are an important competition in the synchro calendar. The top four teams from each division will automatically qualify for Nationals, which will be held in Sydney at the beginning of December.
The Australian competitive season kicked off over the weekend with Sydney Synch Festival - the only major interstate competition outside of the National Championships. The competition is of great value to teams, not only because it is another performance opportunity, but also because it ends with short one-on-one feedback sessions between each team and the Tech Panel, then the Judges.
