These teams won the Golden Ticket!

Canada got its 2020 representatives at the World Junior Championships in March. Finishing first and second respectively at Winterfest, the Quebec team Les Suprêmes and Nexxice from Ontario won the famous "world ticket" on Saturday evening. Even with great scores, Nova Junior will still have to wait. In the Senior division, Les Suprêmes claimed the gold title after an intense competition.


In good shape, Les Suprêmes struck gold after short programs

The Winterfest event is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated events in Canadian synchro. Held annually in the greater Toronto area, this year the CAA Centre in Brampton played host to over 100 synchronized skating teams from across Canada.

Skating abroad and join a synchro team, these skaters did it!

Nova Junior (CAN) experiences international exchanges. Amy, Norah and Simone travelled many hours to skate synchro, learn skills and compete with a new team. Those young skaters and their coach, Nadine Tougas shared their stories on Jura Synchro!

The season opened in Ontario with Bill Phillips Memorial

This past weekend 100 teams from all across Ontario and Quebec took the ice in Dorchester, Ontario. (CAN), for the first competition of the competitive synchro season in Ontario. The kickoff of the season for many teams, teams from Juvenile to Adult competed for titles over a two day period.


The Quebec competitions season is launched

As every year, the first weekend of December is the launch of the competition season for the Quebec synchronized skating teams. The teams met at the Invitation St-Hubert and presented their programs to the judges and spectators, for the 25th edition.

Nova Senior is the new Canadian champion!

Day two of the 2019 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships was truly a fairytale for Nova Senior who took the gold medal on Saturday evening. For the first time in more than a decade, a newly formed team won the Nationals. 

Canadians 2019: Nexxice and Nova Senior take the lead after the short programs

The first results have arrived from the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex. Nexxice, from Burlington, Ontario, finished first in two divisions (Senior and Intermediate). Les Suprêmes are provisionally first in Junior. Nova Senior surprised everybody to sit second. The team from St-Hubert, Quebec, is only 1.78 points from the top of the ranking.

Just before the start of the big international competitions, the Canadian season has really started last month with the Bill Phillips Memorial. As an Event Coordinator for Skate Ontario, Lauren Zbucki worked with the Local Organizing Committee, the Tech Rep, the Data Specialists and the Event Technicians on the organization and operations of the competition. We decided to ask her a few questions.


Nexxice and Les Suprêmes qualified for Junior Worlds

Winterfest held in Brampton, ON is a highly intense competition for any team that enters. A Canadian competition, some teams from the USA have recently attended to compete against some of Canada’s top teams. Winterfest also is Canada’s Junior Worlds qualifier competition, making this one of the most intense weekends of the year for many skaters. The moment these teams competing for a spot walk into the competition it is the competition.

Winterfest 2019: Nexxice teams skate to lead in Short Program

Reigning Canadian Champions Nexxice took the Senior’s Short Program at Winterfest on Friday in Brampton, ON (CAN). Nexxice stands also in first place in the Junior division after the first competition day.

Synchronized skating teams in Quebec started the competition season in early December. What has happened in recent weeks? Here is an update on the situation before the new year.

Junior Worlds: Russia and USA dominated the Short Programs

The first competition day of the 2018 ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships took place on Friday evening in Zagreb, Croatia. The 2017 Junior World Champions Team Junost from Russia finished atop of the competition. Skyliners (USA) trails the leader by three points in second place, while Crystal Ice  (RUS) also is provisionally third.
