The International Mixed Age Trophy 2020 to be held in Basel, Switzerland on March 28 is officially canceled for health reasons. The organizers announced this decision on Friday afternoon.

"The development of COVID-19 situation required a close cooperation with the local Health Authorities during the last weeks. After careful evaluation of all risks and benefits, we came to the conclusion, to cancel the SYS MA Trophy 2020," announced the Organizing Committee on Friday.

The organizers add that "the health of skaters, visitors and volunteers has the highest priority and under these circumstances, a normal and fair running of the competition was no more feasible."

"Obviously, we regret, that we had to cancel this event, however we hope you understand our decision. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you very much for all your patience and your interest to come to Basel."

19 Mixed Age teams coming from 8 different countries were announced for this competition.

The Organizing Committee left open the possibility of scheduling the event around the same time in 2021.
