Only three days to go until the first international competition of the 2023/24 season. On Saturday, October 7, the Finlandia Trophy takes place in Espoo, Finland, with five teams vying for the podium.

October already, the start of fall! But also the beginning of a new season for international synchronized skating teams.

On Saturday, at the Finlandia Trophy, four Finnish teams and one American team will present their new short programs.

The four Finnish teams will compete in the season's first international event. Four teams? Yes, after competing in the Elite 12, Lumineers returns this season to the Seniors. This season, the home team will present "The Invisible Child" in the short program.

The Helsinki Rockettes have announced a short program entitled "Liberation". The 2023 World Championship runners-up are back and hoping to repeat their success of 2022 at Finlandia Trophy.

Team Unique, bronze medallists at the last world championships, returns this season with a new short program called "Let It Be". The performance "describes the feeling of exhaustion and numbness, of which of you eventually let go and decide to let loose," explains the team on Instagram.

Finally, Marigold IceUnity will be skating "Some Like It Hot" this season, a "Broadway"-style short program in the footsteps of Marilyn Monroe—a new performance that the team is about to present.

"An Evening With Champions"
Not forgetting the only foreign team in the competition: the Haydenettes from the USA. The American champions finished 3rd at last year's Finlandia Trophy. This season, they will perform a new short program, "An Evening With Champions".

The competition takes place on Saturday evening in Finland. Results will be announced on Jura Synchro!
