This week is usually the week of the Senior Worlds. Athletes and fans miss this long-awaited competition held every year in early April.

Lake Placid in 2020, Zagreb this year... Skaters, coaches, staff but also synchronized skating fans are chomping at the bit to attend Worlds again. Indeed, it's been two years since the Senior World Championships have been cancelled due to the pandemic.

As the Worlds should have started today, April 8, in the Croatian capital, Jura Synchro has collected skaters' impressions.

"Sad!" wrote several synchro skaters.

"Super sad!" agreed one of the team captains of the Helsinki Rockettes in Finland.

"Heartbroken," continued Lisa from the team Starlight in Switzerland. Her first Worlds were in 2019 in Helsinki, and "since then, we learned so much and gained confidence. Now we can't wait to show it next year in Hamilton!"

For a Sweet Mozart's skater in Austria, this is a second time that Worlds could be organized and that "synchro could become closer to be Olympic". The team from Austria has not trained this season but has high hopes of getting back on track next year.

"Last year, it was more of a shock to realize that we would not be going to Worlds. It was something we all worked hard for.  This year, we kind of knew they would cancel it. So now, even though it is Worlds week, our eyes are in the upcoming season," added a skater from Team Unique (FIN).

A skater from Team Berlin agreed: "It's sad that it's been cancelled for the second time, but it's definitively the right decision." She is also looking forward to next year in Hamilton as it will be her first senior World Championships.

Huge hopes for Hamilton in 2022
Many synchro skaters expressed their disappointment. After two years of waiting, all eyes are already on Hamilton, Canada, in 2022. The competition will take place from April 7 to 9, 2022. Then, it will be the turn of Lake Placid (USA) to host the event in 2023, according to the ISU calendar.

This will be the second time that the city of Hamilton will host this major competition. The last time was in 2015!
