Busy period for Quebec teams in Canada

While the eyes of the whole world were turned to the French Cup, all the Quebec teams competed for the fourth consecutive year, in the city of Sherbrooke at the Quebec regional synchronized skating championships.

On Friday, January 31, the teams, out of the selection for the Canadians (Pre-Juveniles, Juveniles, Pre-Novices, Beginners, Elementary, Adults Psy II) opened the event.

In the Pre-Juvenile category, Golding Ice won the gold medal with a score of 29.86 points, followed by the Nova team that obtained 27.74 points and Les Suprêmes winning the bronze medal with 26.43 points.

For the Juveniles, the gold medal went to Nova (49.89 points), the silver medal to Golding Ice (48.13 points) and the bronze medal went to the Éclypses (47.64 points).

Seven Pre-Novices teams competed this weekend. The public could see a tight competition between the first and second place, which went to the Silver Wings (48.93) and the Fines Lames de Lévis (46.53). The third place was for the Libellules de Ferme-Neuve.

On Saturday, the five Novice teams took possession of the ice to deliver great performances. In the end, Nova won this competition with a score of 104.70 points, followed by Les Suprêmes who obtained 101.69 and Golding Ice finished third with a score of 100.86 points.

The Open category welcomed four teams, that have shown good progress since Winterfest, which means that competition is becoming tighter between these teams. We were able to see Nova Open skating to the theme of love and getting a total of 142.61 points, then Cassiopée that delivered a solid first performance to finally rank on the second step of the podium (136.44). The Pirouettes took the bronze with a score of 123.78.

For the Intermediates, Golding Ice earned the gold title (107.00), the silver went to Cassiopée (97.50) and the bronze to the Éclypses (93.89).

Note that only one Junior team skated this weekend in Sherbrooke. Les Pirouettes from Laval won 43.55 points for their short program and 76.17 points for the free skate.

Sunday's day ended with the many teams in the Adult categories.

Cassiopée won gold in Adults I with 89.58 points (4 teams in the division). L'Odyssée took the gold in the Adults II category with 76.78 points (14 participating teams). While in Adults III, it was Les Rythmiks de Lanaudière who won the event (33.08 points) in a very nice competition that gathered 14 teams.

These teams will soon be competing in Quebec (February 15), Kanata (February 29) and / or Trois-Rivières (March 28).

Quebec already on track the previous weekend at Place Bell
For the third consecutive year, CPA Laval organized its synchronized skating competition at Place Bell last weekend, on January 25 and 26, 2020.

Several Quebec teams were able to compete for the second time in the season and show the evolution of their program since December. It was also a first opportunity to compete on the ice in front of the judges for Beginners, Pre-Novices and Adults teams and to refine the details of the routines under the eye of the official panel.

During the Invitation Laval, Les Pirouettes Junior won several distinctions. The Juniors got 81.64 points for their free program. The Pirouettes also won gold in the Open category, followed by Nepean's Capital Ice and Les Suprêmes from Saint-Léonard. As for the Novice Pirouettes, they took the lead, ahead of the Goulbourn Starlight team. The Pirouettes also won gold in the Juveniles .

In the Pre-Novices division, the victory went to Harmony from Lakeshore, Cassiopée won the silver title and Les Étoiles d'Ahuntsic earned the bronze. For the Pre-Juveniles, Golding Ice was crowned champion among seven participating teams.

Finally, in the Adult categories, L'Odyssée won the Adult II category (eleven participating teams). Les Rythmiks Lanaudière were the winners of the Adult III division (nine participating teams).


Note that the Novices, Open, Intermediate and Junior teams who skated this weekend are now preparing for the Canadian championships to be held from February 21 to 23, 2020 in Calgary.
At the same time in France...
The Quebec Senior team Les Suprêmes won a bronze medal at the French Cup which took place in Rouen. After the short programs, and then the free performances, watch their programs below!
