The Rouen citizens, but also synchro fans around the world are counting the days. The French Cup 2020 will take place this weekend in the north of France. Here is everything you need to know to prepare for this high-level competition which will be held in a partly renovated ice rink.

Two days before the start of the competitions, is everything ready?
Sandrine Devaux, President of the French Cup: Yes, of course, this week we are checking everything with the volunteers and taking stock of the organization. Between 100 and 150 people will be volunteering this weekend for the event to take place. We prepare this competition all year round, but since September it has been more intensive.

The French Cup will be, for the first time, a stage of the Synchronized Skating Challenger Series. What does it change for you?
We take this nomination as a real recognition from the ISU (International Skating Union). As this is the first year, it was a real challenge for us, at the administrative level in particular because it requires another organization. The public will not notice any major differences, however, for the teams, there will be a real competition challenge.

In the team entries with the new rules, it changes the game…
Yes, federations can only send a maximum of two teams per category. These new criteria have certainly limited access to competition for certain athletes, but the host country is entitled to more places. So for France, there will, therefore, be one Senior team and three Juniors.

The French Cup has always been a very popular competition for the teams and also the fans!
Yes, and for Rouen, it's just huge! The French Cup brings youth and life to the city. It is a real breath of fresh air for the "Rouennais" (people who live in Rouen). And I can tell you that it is a fight for getting tickets, for taking pictures with the teams, etc. It's nice, the merchants in the city can also feel this energy.

How do you get a ticket?
The ticket office is open on the official competition website. They can also be collected on site. All information is available online (www.frenchcup.fr).

And for those who could not make the trip?
It will be possible to follow the competition via live streaming which will be produced by the TV channel of the French Federation of Ice Sports.

As president, what do you expect most?
I am very happy to see the Australians coming to Rouen this year. With all that they have experienced in recent weeks, they deserve our full attention and skating has progressed a lot in Australia in recent years. Otherwise, we should not miss the performances of Les Suprêmes (CAN), Skyliners (USA), or even the Marigold IceUnity (FIN)… the big stars who are always eagerly awaited.
