Team Ice on Fire flies slowly towards the Worlds

The second Italian National championships 2020 took place last weekend in Trento, a historical town in Northern Italy. The Senior team Ice on Fire brought down the curtain on this successful competition by earning the gold title.

Senior ISU: "What a Feeling" on the ice
The competition held at the BLM Group Arena started with the dynamic short program of the host Team Ice on Fire. They skated to the song "What a Feeling". At the end of the free program, the team got a total score of 151,53 improving their last result of 4,23 points. This good result, which exceeds the minimum scores required in Italy, allows the team to consider the 2020 World Championships in Lake Placid. As a reminder, for the first time, two Italian teams will be qualified.

The silver medal went to Shining Blades. The team from Milan received 77.93 for both programs.
Basic and Advanced Novices

In the Basic Novice division, Team Hot Shivers confirmed its first place scoring 35.50, Olympia Team obtained the second place (31.78), and Shining Blades finished in third position, earning 30.72. The runner up were Ice Sparkles, Lady Birds, Flying Angels (two falls affected the final result) and Crazy Splinters.

In the Advanced Novice category, all the teams improved their scores compared to the last competition. Hot Shivers delivered an elegant program. Skating a tribute to "Mary Poppins", the team won the event with a great score of 68.66. The silver medal went to Lady Birds (51.82) and team Ice on Fire won the bronze (48.10). Only three teams competed in this division.
Juvenile and Mixed Age
In the Juvenile division, five teams skated their program.

Mini Ice Angels from Alta Badia won the gold medal with a score of 27,93. Skating to the "Pink Panther" theme, Lady Birds claimed the silver medal with 24,07 points. The bronze went to Olimpya Team from Como with 22,41 points.

Ice Sparkles from Aosta and Team Ice on Fire arrived respectively 4th and 5th. Both teams skated with precision and elegance.



The fiercest competition took place in the Mixed Age division. Olympia Team of Como and Flying Angels from Rome fought to take home the gold.

Olympia team skated a clean program and with a total score of 52,57 points got the first position. Due to an error in the first element, Flying Angels lost a few points in the intersection and missed the victory. Nevertheless, the team skated a good program, earning their best season score (52,13). Ice Angels won the bronze with 44,81 points. Teams Frost Fairies, Sunrise, and Ice Dolls completed the Mixed Age rankings.

Junior B

Three teams competed in this division.

Team Lady Birds got the first place, skating an ironic and exciting program to a burlesque theme that brought them 38,54 points. Well done for the Ice Sparkles. The skaters improved their score of 4,51 more since the last competition and finished second. The bronze medal was for Crazy Splinters from Rome. The winners of the First National competition had a bad day.
