The countdown has begun as the World Senior Synchronized Skating Championships will be held in Helsinki in just two weeks. It is, therefore, the ideal time to hear from the teams involved for this most awaited event. Let's start today with Nova (CAN)!

First team to hear from: Nova team who will skate as Team Canada 1 in Helsinki. The Senior team, led by Marie-France Sirois, has really been revealed this season, by winning the Mozart Cup (passing even in front of the 2018 World Champions Marigold IceUnity) and by winning also the national championships in Canada.

How is Nova doing?
Laurence Darveau and Tessa Sarret (Captains): Our team is doing very well. After the Canadian championships, we took a week off so everyone could rest and get their strength back for the last month of training for the Worlds.

A few days before your trip to Helsinki, what are you working on?
At the Canadian championships, we missed some points and level. We know that at the World Championships, all the details will be really important to judge the teams. So, we're working on the technical elements to ensure that we get the highest level of difficulty. We have not made major program changes, but we have been working on details to achieve perfection.

This will be your first World Championships. The pressure is rising?
I think we are really excited about participating in our first World Championships as for the majority of our team, this is really the first time we'll compete at this level. Support, teamwork and solidarity remain in the centre of our training. So we are preparing in the same way as all the competitions of the season since it is a formula that works well for our team.

Have you ever been to Helsinki?
We have never been to Finland so we can not wait to visit! We leave on April 8 and have scheduled some training during the week. We will try to visit and enjoy our trip to the fullest.

Will your fans follow you from Canada?
Yes, almost all of our parents will be here for the competition! We are really happy to have our loved ones with us to live these beautiful moments.

Do you have a goal for these World Championships?
We want to do two programs that live up to our abilities and talent!

Less than two weeks before the big departure, what does your coach tell you?
We maintained the same number of hours as during the whole season. We have kept the same approach of working by doing parts of the programs, but also runs, and details. Marie-France ensures that the technical elements are present and that the GOE is maximized. We are really looking forward to it!!
