The most important event is coming this weekend in the Russian synchronized skating world. The National Championships take place from 11th to 13th of January in Yoshkar-Ola. It will be the 10th Russian National Championship organized in this place. The 28 strongest teams from all country will take part in this competition.

There are 12 teams in Novice category.

Sunrise-2 from Saint-Petersburg was the champions of Russia in the last years and will compete to stay at the top. But all teams are ready this year to battle for the top spots. Many of them performed interesting and stylish programs during this season in the different Stages Cup of Russia. This weekend, we'll see a lot of program themes like pink panthers, «good» and «evil», Charlie Chaplin, or even the computer's game princess Aurora.

The best scores reached by the teams at the beginning of the season are 82,96 points (Sunrise-2), 78,97 points (Team Kazanochka) and 73,47 points (Junost Novice).

It will be a very tough struggle between teams in the Junior division. Teams fight not only for titles champions of Russia but also the fight for the opportunity to go to the 2019 World Junior Championships in Neuchatel. Team Junost, Crystal Ice, and Sunrise-1 will be among the strongest contenders this weekend.

Team Junost from Yekaterinburg will defend their title champions of Russia. Two bright and different style programs will help the athletes to achieve this. Crystal Ice Junior hold intense one-month training camp in December in Sochi. The team is ready to attack new peaks.

Team Sunrise-1 had already good performances with the programs and is also ready to be at the beginning of the race for the main prize. An interesting fact about team Sunrise-1 is that the team scored more than 70,000 views on YouTube with their new free program "Ave Maria". Also, Team Idel from Kazan has a good chance to get a high place in the Nationals by showing clean programs this weekend.

Should we expect any surprises in the Senior category? It will be interesting to see who will qualify for the World Championships in Helsinki. This weekend, four teams will represent their programs in Yoshkar-Ola.

Undoubtedly, Team Paradise, two-time World Champions, are 100 percent ready for National. The skating rink in Yoshkar-Ola is like the second home arena for the team. The summer training camp is held in this city for the 4th year in a row. Team Tatarstan will also show its programs. Their strong point is academic accuracy and synchronism. For the first time, the team Crystal Ice Senior will perform at the Russian Nationals. One of the strengths of the team is the emotional pressure and great faith in the team.

To remember, the best results of the teams are 241,96 points for Team Paradise, 212,02 points for Crystal Ice, 210,96 for Team Tatarstan.

All current season results mean nothing. So we will see who will be the champions this weekend because the level of teams is growing with each competition. We wish the teams smooth ice and good luck! And how we say in Russia: "ni puha, ni pera!" ("Break a leg!").
