Synchronized skating teams in Quebec started the competition season in early December. What has happened in recent weeks? Here is an update on the situation before the new year.

On December 8th, many teams from the province of Quebec competed at the first competition of the season in St-Hubert. Saturday started with the Beginner I and II categories, and continued with the Adult, Novice, Intermediate and Open divisions.

In the Open, Les Suprêmes de Saint-Léonard won the competition with a slight lead over Les Pirouettes. The Laval team achieved a higher technical score of 0.05 points. Cassiopeia of Sherbrooke got the bronze medal.

Eight teams competed in the Intermediate division. The Pirouettes team won the gold, followed by the Evolution and Les Eclypses teams. The competition was tight.

The other major category was the Novice Division which saw Nova's win with 64.08 points. The team that performed at home beat Les Suprêmes by just under two points. The Pirouettes finished on the third step of the podium.

Seven other categories skated at this competition. We had the opportunity to see many performances, an overflowing creativity, which heralds a good competition season.

Teams from Quebec also competed on the same weekend in Dorchester - Ontario, where the Synchro Series - Bill Phillips Memorial 2018 competition was held. The Quebec Nova Junior team was present at this competition and placed 3rd with a very tight result with the team Gold Ice (-0.66). This is a very promising start for this group of skaters.

A week later, the Junior and Senior teams, Les Suprêmes, flew to Eindhoven in the Netherlands to present their two programs this season at the 2018 Lumière Cup. Each team returned to Montreal with a beautiful Christmas present: a gold medal! The Senior Supremes totaled 213.26 points and dominated the Helsinki Rockettes.
