Colorado Springs selected to host the Worlds in 2017

The American city of Colorado Springs has been chosen by the International Skating Union (ISU) for the 2017 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. The event will be held in Colorado state, on April 7-8, 2017.

World Synchronized Skating Championships have been organized annually by the ISU since 2000. The first competition was in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has been won by Sweden (Team Surprise), follow by Canada (Black Ice) and Finland (Marigold IceUnity).

That’s not the first time that Worlds are held in Colorado Springs. This city, located in the center of the country, hosted the event in 2010. U.S. Figure Skating organized also Worlds 3 years ago, in 2013 in Boston.

Since the beginning of the World Synchronized Skating Championships, Team USA has earned 1 silver medal in 2007 (Miami University) and 5 bronze medals (Haydenettes : picture above).

What about 2018 ?

The city of Stockholm, in Sweden, has been selected to host the World Synchronized Skating Championships in 2018. The Swedish Figure Skating Association and the City of Stockholm will be the organizers in 2 years. The event will be held at Hovet on April 6-7, 2018.

It will be the 3rd time that Sweden hosts this kind of event. Gothenburg, the second-largest city in the country, has already been chosen 2 times, in 2005 and 2012. Team Sweden (Team Surprise) is 6-times World Champion in this discipline, in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 & 2012.

Please note that these two events are still announced as "provisional allotment" by the ISU (2014 ; 2015).
