Moscow hosted the 1st stage of the Russian Cup

The new synchro season for Russian teams has started this weekend in Moscow. Traditionally, the first weekend of November is the 1st stage of Russian Cup – Open Championship of Moscow. 31 teams from different cities participated in this competition. 

For sure, everybody was waiting for the performance of the two-time world Champion Team Paradise. 3 weeks ago, the team already showed the new short program in the Finlandia Trophy. But in Moscow Paradise skated stronger and presented a cleaner short program. They received 6 points more than in Espoo.

On the second day, the skaters of Paradise presented their new free program on the music of the Hungarian composer Havasi. The program was very powerful and interesting with many creative transitions and impressive group lifts. Their performance was very clean from the point of view of all the judges, Paradise received the highest levels for all the elements in both programs and a total of 206.28 points.



The second senior team came from Moscow and called Sozvezdie. This is a quite new team who looks interesting. They finished with 82.72 points for the two programs, that was really not a bad beginning.



In the Junior division, everybody was looking for the performance of Crystal Ice from Moscow. Remember, the team did the best short program in the last World Junior Championships in 2017. This year, their new programs are completely different. The short is "Believer" and the free is "Game of Thrones". Both programs were very energetic and exciting. They won the competition with 166.94 points.

Team Sunrise-1 from Saint-Petersburg took the silver medal with 156.52 points. The team performed a beautiful short program called "Hachi" and a very interesting free program on the music "Hall of the Mountain King". This team improves a lot season after season. As in the previous years, they will fight for the opportunity to go to the Worlds. Team Piruet from Orenburg took the bronze medal with 125.58 points.



Team Sunrise-2 from Saint-Petersburg won the competition in Advanced Novice. The three-time national champions showed a very fiery dance on the soundtrack “Pele. Viva Brazil!”. The skaters earned 63.71 points. Mordovia from Saransk took the second place with 52.40 points, Piruet Plus from Orenburg finished at the third place with 49.18 points.



Golden Prize, the team which also represented Saint-Petersburg was the best in Basic Novice with 43.71 points. Ice Fantasy from Moscow took the second place with the difference 0.22 from the first place, Fleur de Lise from Gubkin earned 40.92 and was the third.
