The day 1. of the first Finnish qualifications competition started in Gatorade Center Turku on shiny Saturday afternoon. There were four senior teams, eleven Junior teams and 18 Novice teams. Novices competed in two groups. Let's have a look at the results. 

The day ended up with a very exciting situation. MIU leads with 71.08 points, Rockettes earned 70.81 points and Team Unique is just behind them with scores 69.65. In addition, the new team Lumneers did a great performance and earned 58.55 points. The seniors had already presented their short programs a few weeks ago at the Finlandia Trophy.

This was the first time we saw the short programs of junior teams. The winner was Musketeers, they skated their vivid theme "Kurios" in colorful dresses earning 57.96 points. Vivaldi´s beautiful music ”Autumn” carried skillful Dream Edges to the second place with slightly lower score 57,78. The third, Team Mystique´s tempting program “Just Girls” earned 54,73 points.

In the novice competition, the winner of the first group was Finettes (51.90), the second was Team Dynamique (50.21), and CrystalBlades was the third (44.93).

In the other group, the winner was Starlights (56.70), the second was Diamond Edges (51.75) and the third was Valley Bay Synchronics (43.55). 

The novice teams showed amazing programs, riddled with difficulties and lot of speed. Each season, the level goes up in this category which is getting closer to the junior level. Artistically, the teams have made an effort on the costumes, more beautiful than ever.

The competition stops there for novice teams but continues on Sunday for juniors and seniors who will present their free programs. Competition schedule: 13.00-17.00 (Finnish time, GMT + 2)
