U.S. Nationals 2017: Senior teams qualified for the Worlds

The 2017 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships ended last Saturday in Rockford, Illinois. Eight champions were crowned during this competition and two Senior teams have been qualified to represent the United States at the next World Championships.

94 teams and nearly 1’700 athletes… The 2017 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships took place last week and 8 divisions were represented.

Skyliners from New York Skating Club won a lot of gold medals this year. They won the competition in four different divisions: Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, and Junior! Skyliners also earned a medal at the Senior level with a tiny 0.12 lead on Miami University.



The teams representing Hayden Recreation Centre also lived wonderful days in Rockford. This season, their Juvenile skaters Mini Mates won the silver medal, their Intermediate team Star Mates received the bronze medal and the Novice Ice Mates were the silver medalists, Esprit de Corps (Masters and Adult) and Metroettes Collegiate placed 4th and the famous Lexettes finished at the 2nd position. And don’t forget their team Haydenettes who won the gold medal in the Senior division.



Among the most successful skating families…

Teams Starlights from Skokie Valley Skating Club finished 4th in Novice and 3rd in Junior.

Representing the Bismarck Skating Club, Capital Ice Chips won a silver medal in the Intermediate division and Capital Ice Connection finished 4th in Juvenile.

Crystallettes teams also presented great programs in Rockford. The Novice and the Adult teams from Dearborn won the silver medal this season. The Senior Crystallettes did the second best score.



At the Collegiate level, the victory went to the University of Michigan. Miami University Collegiate Varsity finished 2nd and Michigan State University placed 3rd.

As announced a few weeks ago, the Skyliners and the Lexettes will represent the United States at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships March 10-11 in Mississauga, Canada.

The Haydenettes and the Crystallettes will be Team USA 1 and 2 at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships April 7-8 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Last year’s U.S. champions were the Haydenettes and Miami University.
