Relive the Nationals in Australia

Melbourne hosted the Australian Figure Skating Championships Synchronised Events last weekend from 25-27 November 2016. The O’Brien Group Arena, home of the Olympic Winter Institute, was at maximum capacity with large crowds supporting all events. Teams from every State and New Zealand attended.
The weather was unpredictably cool and overcast for the Australian Summer and the performances inside the rink were exceptional. Opportunity to live stream and/or travel to international competitions and the influence of visiting international coaches has been beneficial to many teams. The Junior and Senior events highlighting improvement in technique and choreography.
Senior Division Champions Infusion from Perth, Western Australia will be representing Australia at the World Synchronised Skating Championships 2017 in Colorado, USA. Second placed Nova from North Brisbane, Queensland and Third placed Ice Storm from South Brisbane, Queensland have been nominated for International assignments however are yet to commit competitions.

Junior Division Champions Majestic Ice Junior from Sydney, New South Wales will be representing Australia at the World Junior Synchronised Skating Championships 2017. Second placed Iceskateers Elite from South Brisbane, Queensland and Infusion Junior from Perth, Western Australia are yet to confirm international assignments.

All in all, an outstanding competition with very strong junior teams coming through and the largest ever Mixed Age competition with 12 teams.
