According to U.S. Figure Skating and our correspondents, the U.S. Synchronized Skating International Classic in Norwood (USA), a competition that counts as a stage of the Challenger Series, has been cancelled. The other event removed today from the season's calendar is the Trophy d'Ecosse.

The information came out earlier this week; the 4th leg of the Challenger Series that was to be held in Norwood, MA - USA, from January 28 to 29, 2022, is cancelled. According to US Figure Skating, the competition did not meet the minimum ISU requirements for international team participation by the registration deadline.

We will come back soon on this cancellation and the consequences on the 2021/2022 Challenger Series. The US Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships, which were to be held in conjunction with this event, are kept as planned.

Let's remember that this Challenger Series will start in a few days, from January 6 to 8, 2022, in Gdansk in Poland before going to the Netherlands, Finland and France.

A few hours ago, we learned about the cancellation of the Trophy d'Ecosse, which was to be held in Dumfries from February 11 to 13. British Ice Skating announced it on its website. This decision is due to the current uncertainty regarding the quarantine arrangements that must be made for travellers wishing to enter the United Kingdom and the additional uncertainty related to the Omicron variant restrictions.

However, the release indicates that a 2023 edition may take place.

Remember that these two events are added to the list of other competitions already cancelled: the Spring Cup in Italy, the Zagreb Trophy in Croatia, the Britannia Cup (GBR), as well as the Budapest Cup in Hungary.
