Last weekend, Italian teams competed in the second stage of the first "Gran Premio Italia". Team Hot Shivers and Team Ice on Fire won respectively in the Junior and Senior division.
On
February 28th, the second stage of the "Gran Premio Italia" took place
in Aosta, Italy.
Italian teams from Senior and Junior divisions had once again the chance to compete and show their programs to a live panel of judges.
The competition was held in one single day and followed very strict rules in order to assure the safety of everyone. Every skater was tested for Covid-19 a few days before, no public was allowed, and both athletes and staff had to wear a mask inside the rink.

Unfortunately, the increasing of Covid-19 cases in Italy made the preparation for this
competition particularly difficult for some teams.
"For this event, we weren't as ready as we would have wanted and some major problems didn't allow us to keep up with our schedule," said Team Hot Shivers.
"During training, we always have to wear masks and that was quite hard," explained Team Shining Blades from Milan.
However the competition was a success and all four teams managed to participate.
"We are very grateful to the Italian Federation (FISG) for organizing this event and allowing us to compete in total safety," said Team Ice on Fire from Trento.

two songs: "Elizabeth" by Ashram and "Strength of thousand
men" from "Two Steps from Hell" soundtrack and ranked first with
50.26 points.
Team Hot Shivers, instead, didn't start off very well and earned only 41.77 points with their short program to the song "Nelle tue mani" by Andrea Bocelli. "We had three falls that had a big influence on our score," they explained.

During
the free skating, Team Hot Shivers Senior presented a very clean and precise program to the movie "Up" soundtrack.
However, despite earning 110.07 points and a total score of 151.84, they weren't able to overtake Team Ice on Fire who skated a very emotional program "The tale of the red tread" and won the gold with a free skating score of 103.66 points and a total of 153.92 points.
As a result, Team Ice on Fire not only won the second stage but the first "Gran Premio Italia" as well. "We are very proud of our achievement, last week we had some difficulties and we were a little worried, but this result gave us a lot of satisfaction".

In this
uncertain time, Italian teams have been very lucky to be able to compete in a
series of different events.
"We miss the public and the cheer, but we feel very lucky to be able to compete," said Team Shining Blades.
"We are very grateful, we know that some teams from other countries didn't have the chance to compete or even skate this season," Team Hot Shivers added.
"This year has been unpredictable and very complicated, but these circumstances have helped us grow and learn how to face difficulties together," said Team Ice on Fire. "We all hope that next season will be as normal as possible".
