Junior Worlds 2020: All about the participating teams

Let's present the junior teams that participate in the 2020 ISU Junior World Championships which take place in Nottingham, GBR, Friday and Saturday.

TEAM AUSTRALIA: Iceskateers Elite

Let's start with the Australian national champions who just won the bronze medal at the Steel City Trophy which took place last weekend in Sheffield. The Queensland team will present a short program called 'Into the Unknown' and a free program to Cher.

TEAM CANADA: Les Suprêmes

This year at the Junior Worlds, Les Suprêmes Juniors will thrill you. The team led by Marilyn Langlois and Pascal Denis won Winterfest in January et earned the bronze at the Lumière Cup 2019. Their creativity and energy are undoubtedly their strengths.

TEAM CANADA: Nexxice Junior

Named national champions a few weeks ago in Calgary, Nexxice Junior will defend its 8th place obtained last year at the Junior Worlds. Coming from Burlington, Ontario, the team of Trish Perdue-Mills is known for its elegance on ice.

TEAM CROATIA: Zagreb Snowflakes Junior

15th last month at the Spring Cup in Italy, 10th at the Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy 2020... The Croatian team, coached by Ozana Mikjkovic and Natasa Bahat, finished 18th last year at the World Junior Championships.

TEAM CZECH REPUBLIC: Harmonia

Created last year, Team Harmonia will participate in its first World Junior Championships in Nottingham. Based in Prague, the Czech team won the Cup of Dresden and finished 7th at the Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy.

TEAM FINLAND: Team Fintastic

What a season for this team! Team Fintastic clinched victories and podiums since the start of winter. A few weeks ago, the team became also the 2020 Finnish junior champions. The themes of this team from Helsinki this season are "Sound of Silence" for the short program and "Anesthesia" for the free program. Their best score is 198.65 points. TEAM FINLAND: Team Mystique

Winner of the qualification event in Finland, Team Mystique is in great shape this season and is determined to show what they can do. The team that trains in Helsinki has earned four gold medals this season at international competitions. "African Sun" is their short program and "Tique tock" their free program. TEAM GERMANY: Team Berlin Junior

Junior champions of Germany, Team Berlin Juniors participated this season in two events of the ISU Challenger Series: the Spring Cup in Italy where the team finished 13th, and the Leon Lurje Trophy where the team also finished in the 13th position. The team presents a positive and energetic short program this season, for the free program it is the music for Tim Burton's film "Corpse Bride".

TEAM GREAT BRITAIN: Team Icicles

It's the local team of this Junior World Championship! Team Icicles comes from Nottingham and has just returned from the Steel City Trophy with a silver medal. Team Icicles marked the public this season with its particularly creative and spooky free program to the theme of "Circus".

TEAM HUNGARY: Team Magic Junior

Team Magic practices in Budapest and has participated in two international competitions this season: the Cup of Dresden where the team finished 2nd, and the Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy (9th position).

TEAM NETHERLANDS: Team Illuminettes

The best result of Team Illuminettes this season was already in Great Britain at the Britannia Cup where the team had totaled 88.43 points and finished in 9th place. 19th last season at the Worlds in Neuchâtel, the team will want to improve their score this weekend!

TEAM POLAND: Team Ice Fire

The Gdansk team will take part in its third World Championship, and from year to year, the Polish skaters improve their result: 20th in 2018 in Zagreb, 16th last year in Switzerland... Could the team this year getting closer to the world top 10?

TEAM RUSSIA: Crystal Ice Junior

The Russian teams will be among the most serious contenders of this weekend. Crystal Ice of Moscow has already won a bronze medal at the World Juniors in 2018, a silver medal last year, they will certainly aim for gold this year in Nottingham.

TEAM RUSSIA: Team Junost

Team Junost won practically only gold medals this year. Winners of the Spring Cup or the French Cup, the triple Junior World Champions (2017, 2018 and 2019) seem ready once again to defend their title!

TEAM SPAIN: Team Mirum

Recently, the Spanish team Mirum is coached by the former captain of Team Paradise. With this Spanish coaching, the skaters of Madrid improved a lot and finished in 8th place at the Hevelius Cup this season.

TEAM SWEDEN: Team Seaside

Tjörn's team is vice-champion of Sweden and finished 6th at the Spring Cup in mid-February. This is the second time that this team has participated in the World Junior Championships. Team Seaside skates to Sarah Dawn Finer's “Moving On” for the short program. The theme of their free program is "Bird Box".

TEAM SWEDEN: Team Spirit

The 2020 Swedish junior champions will end their season in Nottingham with two very strong programs. Having participated in three international competitions this season, the team that practices near Gothenburg has the experience to achieve a very good score this weekend. Their best result this season is 163.33 points obtained during at their first qualification.

TEAM SWITZERLAND: Team Starlight

This will be the first participation in the World Championships for this Swiss team who skates together for one season only. Swiss Champion 2020, Team Starlight practices near Zürich. The team has surpassed the 100 point mark just one time this season, at the Hevelius Cup in January.

TEAM TURKEY: Team Amorice

This team is also brand new internationally. Recently created, she trains in Istanbul and participates for the first time this season in an international competition.

TEAM USA: Skyliners

Skyliners are famous in the world of synchronized skating. Coming from New York and Springdale, the team was crowned 2020 National Champion and also won gold this season at the Britannia Cup as well as the Dr. Porter Classic. The Skyliners skate to the song "Memory" by Cats and their free program to the theme of Moulin Rouge.

TEAM USA: Elite Teams

2020 U.S. Junior vice-champions, the Teams Elite comes from Northbrook, Illinois. They are participating this year in their first World Championships. Among their best results of the season, the high-potential team won a silver medal at the Spring Cup in February. They could create a nice surprise this weekend!
