Quebec synchro skaters must now prove that they are adequately vaccinated against Covid-19 to train and participate in some recreational activities. For the Nova junior team and Les Suprêmes, this new measure is well accepted.

"At the moment, in Quebec, we are indeed obliged to be vaccinated to train on the ice, but fortunately, we have not had any negative consequences in connection with the vaccination passport! Our team responded very well to the government announcement, ”says Nova junior.

The vaccination passport did not have a significant impact on the progress of Nova's training sessions. "The only small change is that we have to show our VaxiCode application when entering the arena. We have no problem applying this measure since it brings us closer to a return to normal. Obviously, we still respect the other health measures put into effect by the government, "the team continues.

Same situation for Les Suprêmes, where all athletes are now vaccinated. "We have the permission to take off the masks on the ice. However, we have decided to continue wearing them," said Marilyn Langlois, head coach of Les Suprêmes.

The season, therefore, begins for the Quebec teams with a semblance of normalcy. "We have just started our regular season, and we hope there will be competitions this year, whether in Quebec or internationally. Despite the uncertainty, we have decided our objectives for the season, and we're training as if the competitions were taking place. We stay motivated by keeping our goals in mind," said Nova Junior. She indicated that their programs are progressing.

Marilyn Langlois admits that the season is difficult to predict, but training has resumed intensively, and the long programs are almost over. "In the past year, we've made a lot of progress on our quality of individual skating. While continuing to push at this level, we're happy to now be able to work on our typical synchro elements that require a physical connection."

Les Suprêmes hope to be able to take part in regional competitions from December and international event in January.
