Variety of the new programs delighted the Finnish public

Which teams will be selected for the Finnish national championships next February? The first qualifications are held this weekend in Helsinki. Relive now the Saturday’s competition. 

NOVICE

On Saturday afternoon (November 5th), the Novice teams started the Finnish qualifications and took their first steps towards the Finland´s Championships at the end of February 2017. They skated in two groups. The winner of the group 1 was Team Dynamique (Helsinki).  With soft theme « Over the Rainbow », they earned 58,25 points. Team Finettes (Helsinki) won the group 2 competition with points 59,51. Their powerful theme was “Under the pressure”.

In 1st group, the second place went to Starlights from Helsinki too with 55,27 points. They earned this score with a program’s theme called « The Little Match Girl ». Dressed in black, skating’s theme: « Witch », Sun City Synchro from Naantali caught the bronze medal with 43,65 points. 

The silver medalist of the group 2 is Diamond Edges from Kaarina. This team entertained the public with the theme of « Cruella De Vil » and got 51,15 points. The third of this group was team Valley Bay Synchronics (Espoo). Their beautiful performance with the theme of « The Skaters´Walz » brought them 47,52 points.

The best and most successful teams come above all from the Helsinki’s area. However, on Saturday, two teams from the small towns Kaarina and Naantali (Southwest Finland) presented delightful performances and got a place on the podium.

JUNIOR

Juniors short programs were interesting, different and skillful. However, there has been no surprise about the medalists: at the 1st place:

- Team Fintastic (Helsinki). They skated on the theme « Sky » very clean and carefully (score: 55,53 points).

- Earning 53,88 points, Musketeers took the second place with their short program called « The Sunbeam and the Troll ». 

- The bronze medal stayed also in Helsinki with skaters of Team Mystique who got 49,48 points. Their touching short program “Mad World” brought them 49,48 points.

SENIOR

Saturday was the second time Finnish Senior teams performed their short programs to the public. This time, Rockettes succeeded. Their program « Mirror Mirror » brought the first place with 66,93 points. Team Unique reached the second place with 63, 48 points skating their « TU goes Ramalama ». The third was Marigold Ice Unity. This time, their program « Matadors » earned 60,39 points. Team Revolutions, and « Power of Africa », stayed on the fourth place with a total of 51,99 points.

The competition continues on Sunday when the Junior and Senior teams perform their free programs.
