On March 4-5, the 23rd Japan Synchronized Skating Campionships took place in Otsu, Shiga. Open, Junior and Senior teams skated at this event.

In the Junior ISU division, two teams were engaged: Kansai Synchro Lovers Junior and Higashiohtsu Highshool ISC. Both teams improved their performances compared to last year and showed amazing programs.

There was only one participating team in the Senior ISU category. Jingu Ice Messengers showed a wonderful performance. They skated to “Titanic” in the free Skating despite the music problems. After the award ceremony, it was announced that this team will represent the country as "Team Japan" at the 2017 World Championships in Colorado Springs, USA.

Open categories also skated and fifteen teams were engaged. There were including some first-time participation teams and three teams from South Korea.
