Helsingin Taitoluisteluklubi (HTK) was the most successful skating club in the second national qualifications this weekend in Espoo, Finland. They claimed all the gold medals as Helsinki Rockettes in Seniors, Team Fintastic in Juniors and Finettes in Novice category won their competitions.
As expected, Helsinki Rockettes won again. Their self-confidence was high, and even if their Technical Element Score (TES) was not the best (75.73), they convinced the jury with their expertise. Their free program, “Requiem,” brought them 150.36 points, and they got the gold medals with a total score of 222.06.
This time Marigold IceUnity succeeded in showing the full potential of their free program “The Elements”. Showing a very focused performance, they earned the best TES (77.18), and they got 149.13 points for their free program, finishing with 220.20 overall – a huge improvement compared to the first qualification (196.95). Sunday wasn´t the best day for Team Unique. Their technically skillful program, “The Unbearable Lightness of Being,” received 142.40 points. There were two falls, and for some reason, they didn´t reach quite the same emotions they had in the first qualification. They got the bronze medals when their overall points were 211.70.
Dream Edges Senior improved their scores in the free program from the first qualification (128.66) and got 137.33. Their touching program, “Seili – the Island of Souls,” is based on the sad true history of the mistreatment and rejection of sick and unwanted individuals - mostly women outside the Community. They ended in 4th place with 206.13 points.

In bright red dresses, Team Fintastic kept their first position. They skated with great confidence and skills, and with that combination, they earned their high Technical Components Score of 56.21. The total score of the program “Human – The world within” was 120.69 points, and they claimed the gold medal getting 189.85 points overall.
Dream Edges Junior skated their free program “Well Oiled Machine”, and so it was – like a complex machine where every part was in the right place. They skated away with the silver medal with a total score of 181.75 points. This result shows that the club still has a great junior team, even though many skilled skaters joined their Senior team last season.
Musketeers finished in third place after a free program, “Steampunk,” that brought them 109.59 points. They didn´t make any big mistakes, and their performance was very much like in the first qualification, with scores too (110.45). Their overall result was 174.34.
The good performance of Reflections on Saturday was no change because the team kept on with success and placed 4th after the free program “Ghost”. For that, they gathered 104.46 points and the final score was 165.10.
Team Mystique placed fifth. Their free program “Ghost of Me” got 100.03 points, and their total amount of points raised to 160.43.

On Sunday, it was time for the other group of Novice teams. The competition was as enjoyable as on Saturday because all the Novice programs in both groups are very versatile and full of lovely details and cleverly built choreographies.
Finettes skated their modern theme, “The Ghost of the Internet,” in blue dresses. They had some slight inaccuracies in their performance but the whole was executed very well and they got the gold medal earning 79.36 points.
Team Dynamique was second. They have a very varying program “Street Mime” and they skated it entertainingly and expressively according to the music having a total score of 78.32 points. They had a good flow and skillful details and they seemed to enjoy their skating a lot.
The bronze medalists Starlights have a very “mature” program “Golden Eagle”. The program is well-assembled and costumes and hand movements are expressing the theme nicely. They had a fall just before the intersection, so they lost some crucial points but they gathered good scores 74.51.
