The international figure skating competition Finlandia Trophy took place in Espoo, Finland this weekend.

On Saturday evening, the five of world´s top Senior teams took part in this invitational short program competition, Haydenettes from USA was a very welcome visitor among the four Finnish teams. Their journey across the ocean was rewarded with a bronze medal. Marigold IceUnity (FIN) came second.

Helsinki Rockettes (FIN) did not disappoint their fans and skated in their assured style gaining a total score of 68.00. Their theme “Breathe” is based on Kate Bush song. They had a good composition and they made no big errors. White and light blue costume fits well to their theme.

Marigold IceUnity (FIN) has a very different theme compared to last year. Their new short program “Who’s there?” was dramatic and created a menacing atmosphere. Blue-grey and black dresses were also gloomy. The whole of the program was clean and the team earned 67.74 points in total.

A nice surprise for many synhcro fans was to see Haydenettes (USA) on the ice first time ever at Finlandia Trophy. Last spring this team captured their 29th U.S. title and at this year's world championships, they came fifth.

Their fast and easy-going new short program “Good Times Roll” was performed wit good confidence and they earned a total score of 63.32.

This year´s short program theme of Team Unique (FIN) is “It ain´t over”. Dressed in bright red costumes, they earned scores 62.02 having one deduction due a fall. There was a lot of variability in the program but a bit more courage could have improved the performance. The team ended up in fourth place.

Dream Edges Senior (FIN) came fifth. Their program "The Shackles of Gender" brought them 60.90 points. There were some nice tricks in their performance and the deep purple color of their costumes stood out beautifully on the ice.
